I love it when background music perfectly suits the mood of a given situation.
My boyfriend was driving me home last night and I grew passively angry with him for whatever reason, sitting in the passenger seat with my arms folded and my eyes directed toward the window, in complete silence. We were listening to a random CD I’d picked up from Goodwill, and there was this song playing…
It was long. SO long. I don’t understand how it could have been that way, but it lasted the duration of our 20-30 minute drive. It was very soft and instrumental. Quintessential driving music. If you watched a movie and saw a nighttime driving scene, where the two people were silent and the air is palpably awkward, you could hear it. It would fit in. In no way was it memorable; I am sure it won’t infect my mind for a day. It was the satisfying feeling that perfect background music gives to a person whose soul is truly connected with music…
